Camarones Guizados (Stewed Shrimp)  -Quick easy and delicious 

We are all looking for something quick and delicious to make for our families or ourselves. With more and more fast food and box dinners  becoming the go to, people are less willing to make fresh dishes. Well this one is easy, fresh, delicious and super affordable.

Ingredients

1 -12oz bag of raw shrimp deshelled 

1/2 white onion roughly chop 

3 cloves of garlic minced 

4 Roma tomatoes cubed

1/2 orange pepper cubed 

1/2 yellow pepper

1 packs of Sazon 

1-1/2 tsp of salt

1/2 to 1 tsp of black pepper 

2 tbls of Olive oil 

1/4 cup of water ( you may not need it depending on how juicy your tomatoes are )

  
Tools needed

1 10in frying pan 

Knife

Cutting board 

Bowl 

Directions 

In a pan heated on medium put olive oil and onions and allow it to start becoming translucent then add the garlic and stir. 

  
Once incorporated, add the peppers and let cook for 2 minutes.

  

 Add the tomatoes stir and allow to cool for 2 to 5 minutes until the tomatoes start breaking down . 

  

Add the shrimp and add the salt, pepper,  Sazon and the 1/4 cup of water. 

 
Stir well and allow to cook for 5-10 minutes or until shrimp is fully cooked. ( remember of the shrimp is in the shape of a “C” it is cooked as soon as both sides are no longer gray. If you over cook it it will be in the shape of an “o”

  

Serve over white rice , mofongo, pasta or even by itself !
  
Total cost for the dish: 

$5.49 for shrimp

$1 for 2 1/2 peppers

.33 cents onion

.10 cents garlic

.10 cents packet of Sazon

.50 cents for 4 Roma tomatoes

.50 cents for 2 cups of rice

$8.03 and serves 3 to 4 people or $2 per person
